Wulfgar, Sounds like the school psychologist and the school resource officers need to be brought in with some of your students. Here in the Northern Rockies, hats are not to be worn in school period and has been formalized in the dress code. Violate the dress code, you are sent home – no exceptions. Enough dress code violations with the resulting send homes, which are unexcused absences from school, the truancy officers visit with the parents. Often this leads to a positive result. Rebellion in whatever form in school is always a sign of problems elsewhere in the lives of students. That is why the school psychologist plus any other mental health care workers the school has access to need to be brought in. The sooner positive coping strategies can be employed by the student to deal with his/her problems outside of school, the sooner they can be a successful student and raise themselves out of the mires they currently find themselves in. They will not thank you at the time, but they will 10, 20 even 30 years later. Dressing for success appears to also be a factor in schooling. I have been reading some journal articles lately that say the schools that have been raising their dress codes to what is called the post-WWII Ivy League level, are having increased test scores and increased life path successes with their students. Those schools which have combined this with gender separation are having far higher increases in both, especially among their female students. |

| POLL DESCRIPTION |
Imagine that you are playing a WWII game at a convention. Since it can be difficult to remember which players are on which side, one of your fellow players asks you if you would like to wear a hat identifying your side.
Would you?
(Hat shown is the German Player trucker hat from Loren Wiseman Enterprises.) |
