 John the OFM postulates...
I think there should be a TMP Award (to be called the Tempies, for best new... stuff... in the calendar year.
Just a few categories:
- Best new historical miniatures
- Best new historical ruleset or supplement
Ditto for fantasy.
Ditto for sci-fi.
That's it. Period.
I very strongly suggest that it not be diluted into sub-categories. No "Best 15mm Napoleonic", no "Best 28mm plastic ACW", no "Best new 22mm Zombie", and so on.
No separation into 15mm, 28mm, vehicles, airplanes, ships, zombies, etc. I want each category to have heavy competition, and, let's face it. Just how many new 15m Napoleonics are there in a given year? Two? Counting additons? Three? So, where is the glory in being the best out of three? Let the winner contend with Perry Carlists, Old Glory 2nd ed AWI, Battlefront JSII tanks, and so on. Let the victory and award mean something. Don't let it be like the Grammies, with categories for "Best Reggae Polka by a Blind Gay Duo", or "Best Belgian Carillion".
