The April issue of Naval History magazine includes a report on the 2007 discovery of Captain Kidd's ship, the Cara Merchant. The author describes the famous pirate as "piracy's most sympathetic scalawag," and "more unlucky than bloodthirsty", yet he was a convicted murderer and pirate.
