Solo gaming is much more fun with unmatched sides. Because the "fog of war" is missing in a solo game (unless you use rules like Piquet or IABSM! to force it), an uneven match is much more dynamic than an even contest.

Historically, few battles consisted of struggles between evenly-matched opponents - after all, generals always plan to fight when they think it is advantageous to their side. However, the easiest gaming scenario to set up is one which features a match-up between equal opponents.
