| POLL DESCRIPTION |
Suppose that you've placed a large order with an online or mail-order retailer. The retailer discovers that he doesn't have one of the items in stock.
What should the retailer do? |
ship the partial order | Ship only the items that are in stock, and include a note that an item was out of stock.
ask customer for instructions | Put the order on hold, and notify the customer that the item is out of stock, and wait for his instructions.
ship and backorder | Ship the in-stock items. Notify the customer that the unavailable item has been placed on backorder. Ship the backordered item when it comes in.
ship and notify | Ship the available items. Notify the customer when the out-of-stock item is in stock.
hold order until item comes in | Put the order on hold and wait for the out-of-stock item to come in from the supplier, then ship the complete order.
