Picking up on a question first asked by reader Ogre13 - are you vegetarian?
(The following vegetarian definitions have been collected from various vegetarian websites.) |
Semi-Vegetarian | A Semi-Vegetarian eats no red or white meat (beef, pork, venison, etc). They do eat fowl and fish, as well as by-products of red meat (i.e., fats, oils, gelatin etc.). They also wear clothes from animals.

Ovo-Vegetarian | Ovo Vegetarians do not eat meat or flesh of any kind. They eat eggs, but not dairy products. They may eat meat by-products (e.g. fats, bonemeal, gelatin) or use animal-derived products.

Lacto-Vegetarian | Lacto Vegetarians do not eat meat or flesh of any kind. They eat dairy products, but not eggs. They may eat meat by-products (e.g. fats, bonemeal, gelatin) or use animal-derived products.

Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian | Ovo-Lacto Vegetarians do not eat meat or flesh of any kind. They do not eat dairy products or eggs. They may eat meat by-products (e.g. fats, bonemeal, gelatin) or use animal-derived products.

Vegan | Being Vegan is a lifestyle as well as a diet. Vegans eat only plant foods - no animal products, no eggs, no dairy, no honey. They do not wear or use any animal products (e.g. leather, silk, wool, lanolin, gelatin).

Macrobiotic Vegetarian | There are 10 levels in the Macrobiotic program. A Macrobiotic Vegetarian excludes all meat, poultry, dairy produce and eggs from his diet. At initial levels, fish may be eaten.

Pescetarian Vegetarian | A pescetarian diet excludes meat and fowl, but includes fish. Factory-farmed fish are commonly avoided.

Fruitarian Vegan | A fruitarian diet is a type of Vegan diet which excludes processed or cooked foods. It consists mainly of raw fruit (75%), fruit-like vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers), grains and nuts. Fruitarians eat only plant foods that can be harvested without killing the plant.
