In White Dwarf 297, Andy Hoare explains the 40K approach to dice: The game uses the patented "buckets of dice" mechanics, because rolling a lot of dice tends to iron out the quirks of luck over the course of the game (though not entirely!). Other games that use opposed dice rolls or factors with a randomizer are often far more random in outcome. How do you feel about game designs which use the "buckets of dice" approach? |
