If a rules lawyer is someone who looks for the loop holes to exploit then I consider them bad. If they are folks who want others to play by the rules and are open to discussion of unclear points in the rules I am OK with them so long as they dont spend the night nit picking poorly written sets of rules. I play for enjoyment, not wins. If some one intereferes with my enjoyment without good reason then they are bad. |

On another forum, a wargamer penned this description of a rules lawyer: The "Rules Lawyer" wants to play to the rules. I want the rules to give me a good game, that looks realistic. Thus the "Rules Lawyer" will do stuff that is unrealistic, if not just plain daft looking to the outsider, as he has no moral compass. In your opinion, are rules lawyers 'bad'? |
