Isn't redsigning the miniatures a bit like redoing all the Star Trek or Star Wars spaceships to make them a bit "funkier & modern " ? When the designer has layed out a timeline and a set of designs for an alternate history, where is the logic in redesigning everything every few years (other than sales !!) No-one seems to suggest resculpting WWII Sherman tanks because they look a bit high sided and easy to target .. |

The Ogre Mk.III is equipped with a single main gun. In the original boardgame, the Ogre can fire all of its weapons in any direction. However, when using the model on a miniatures tabletop, the main gun - which is in a ball mounting on the front hull - appears to have a limited field of fire. It looks like it could only fire to the forward arc, and might have a limited depression. If you were designing miniature rules for this model, how would you handle the main gun? | |
let it fire 360 | Let the main gun fire in all directions, just as it does in the boardgame. No explanation needed. |
|---|---|
superscience 360 | Come up with a plausible reason why the gun can fire in all directions, despite the limited arc of fire. Apply this superscience technology throughout the game. |
give it a limited arc of fire | Only allow the main gun to fire at targets in its limited arc of fire. |
let it fire 360 and redesign the model | Let the main gun fire in all directions. Redesign the Ogre model so that the gun has an unlimited arc of fire. |
not familiar with Ogre | I'm not familiar with the Ogre games from Steve Jackson Games. |
not interested in sci-fi gaming | I have no interest in science-fiction gaming. |
no opinion | I have no opinion. |
