LTC Moore's 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry was from the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), which had been formed in part from the 11th Air Assault Division (Test). The 101st subsequently adopted the airmobile, then air assault roles and designations, but there is no direct lineage. I have no opinion, as neither division has tanks. (And never did: an AR/AAV is not a tank. So don't start!) Allen |
