I think a "New Releases" board is a very bad idea. It would, essentially, just be another News forum. As long as people aren't abusing new release info in the forums, I don't see anything wrong with it. The key is, of course, that they are not abusing it. For instance, I frequent the Old West board (obviously) and don't want to read SF releases there. Now, you might be able to argue that something like "Firefly" or "Serenity" might have some cross-over appeal, but that's stretching it. Ditto for me keeping Gutshot announcements out of the SF and Fantasy boards. The truth is, I visit a board because I'm interested in that topic/genre. New release info is cool with me because, as noted above, I sometimes miss a news story, but I will see it in the forums. I say, keep things the way they are because they seem to be working. |
