I am one of the great unwashed unemployed. Not that I am not looking but my specific field is in a state of great shrinkage so the open slots are fewer every month. Becasue of the number of unemployed, I cannot make an attempt to jump to a new career as they will already have 10 people with the specific job skills even though mine are 95% of what they want. As of today I just was put on the state low income health plan (which sucks) but what can you do? Which is actually embarrassing to me. But thankfully I find things here and there and was really good at saving. If you thought dealing with HR people three years ago was tough, try it now. They all know they are God and treat you as not worthy to lick their boots. And yes, I am educated (2.5 masters) and many years managerial and logistical experience. But it kills me that I am not in a "protected class" of citizen." I need to start selling more junk on ebay. |
