as the text says. any miniatures out there for this period? i know about foundrys early napoleonics, but they look more suited for AWI.

and im not interested in 15 or 20mm.
thanks

I remember Foundry doing specific French revolution figures many years ago including Sans Coulottes, a guillotine, mob figures etc. Are those the ones you were thinking of?

John the OFM11 Nov 2006 7:22 a.m. PST

Call Old Glory. They used to make them, and probably still have the molds.

mjkerner11 Nov 2006 7:27 a.m. PST

Trent does too, I think, or at least there were some nice ones in some Wargames Illustrated issues several years ago. They are supposed to be sold through the WI website. They've taken long enough, though, so it doesn't seem like they are too stable of a business just yet.

I have been asked by a secret informant that Dixon and Elite have bicorned troops also, that will work.

Lowtardog11 Nov 2006 8:23 a.m. PST

Elite have a quirte big range specifically for that period

Skeptic11 Nov 2006 9:16 a.m. PST

You're in luck, if you're looking for a mob – The Foundry have included one such horde in their Xmas sale:

BHMOB1 18th CENTURY MOB (VENDÉE/REVOLUTION) Horde
[60 Models] (sorry no pic)

Cheers,

thanks everyone!!

the elite miniatures look rather good. but does any one know of there quality? like size proprtion ans how well they firt whit other ranges?
and to bad they dont got a onlie ordering system..

Davoust11 Nov 2006 10:38 a.m. PST

Trent miniatures have been pictured in WI for a few years now. I think Wargames Inc carries them in the states.

Imperialist Enterprises has a line.

I think Chariot has a line in the past for 25mm. I have 2 units of Austrians and French.

Does not Minifig make a line. Hopefully Tom will chime in. I know they have one for 15mm.

Good luck on your search.

Travellera11 Nov 2006 1:50 p.m. PST

Both Foundry and Dixon are "small size 28mm" and look good together. I have chosen this route and found it the best one on the market.

try mirliton.it They have a section on Napoleonics and have French Rev listed. Such as Chasseur a cheval 1791-1801.

Order direct or find a local store.

Eagle Figures have a small range too, including British Infantry. eaglefigures.co.uk

I have painted up a number of the Elite Miniatures French Revolutionary range and they are fantastic! I can't wait for him to complete the range.

DidrikMA11 Nov 2006 4:38 p.m. PST

But are the elite miniatures compatible with Foundry or Perry?

The Elite figures will be larger than Foundry and Perry. Not really compatible. They are really 30mm figures. Perry doesn't make French Revolution figures.

Duc de Limbourg12 Nov 2006 1:52 p.m. PST

I've seen the Elite figures, there great. But at the pace they coming available I'm old, retired or even dead before the range is finished

DidrikMA13 Nov 2006 1:14 p.m. PST

but do they look conmpletly off on a table with some foundry figures?
also what is there discounted range? is there an online store that carries them. im not to comfortable with fax or cheaque…

Duc de Limbourg13 Nov 2006 2:29 p.m. PST

As far as I recall they are bigger but also the style is different scupted, a more active style.

stewart818 Nov 2006 4:16 a.m. PST

Duc de Limbourg21 Nov 2006 12:47 p.m. PST

Eaglefigures has a range but sadly, it's very incomplete

Brownbear26 Nov 2006 2:41 p.m. PST

As far as I know the Italian firm Mirliton has french, austrian and italian revolution figures. But don't know quality etc

majormike6901 Dec 2006 2:24 a.m. PST

The Trent figs look very good and are sculpted by Copplestone I believe. The last time I looked on the WI website I am sure it said the figs would be released early 2007.

These figures are out a long time. Were in WI some years ago and saw them in the flesh(metal) on Salute. Good figures but only some french, Italian and austrian infantry. They are I thought bigger than Foundry

DidrikMA04 Dec 2006 5:55 a.m. PST

Brownbear05 Mar 2007 12:59 p.m. PST

Which armies are you trying to depict? That might help us with suggestions. If it's French and Austrians, then between Elite and Trent you should have decent coverage of the forces that you need. Also, I find that an e-mail to Peter Morbey helps in prodding him to release the figures that you want. Since the Army of Italy is his personal favorite, he probably doesn't need too much of a nudge to get more figures in the pipeline. You could probably also use some of the later period Austrian cavalry to fill tings out a bit.

DidrikMA21 Mar 2007 7:23 a.m. PST

i was thinking about the french.
is there no pictures of trent miniatures out there on the nett?

Chad4721 Mar 2007 9:41 a.m. PST

The only pics I have ever seen are in the wargame mags. I did see them in the 'flesh' at Derby last year and they are excellent figures.

I have painted ( and sold at the 2006 Historicon ) some Elite Miniatures French Rev War infantry and Imperialist Enterprise French Rev War cavalry. The Elite figures are IMHO the finest figures out there – bar none. Yes, they are closer to 30mm but they are superb and they would line up nicely against the Imperialist Austrians. Elite has Austrians as well so you can stay within the one manufacturer but some times is is nice to mix them up. I would say to give them a try, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and for the flags I went to the 'Flag Dude' ( tmterrain.com ) who made me the infantry and cavalry flags I needed. Scroll to the bottom of that link and just follow the instructions. His turn around time is really fast.
