Looking for someone to baby-step me through an order of some 18mm AB/Eureka figs. Since they sell only in individual figs, and my knowledge of Peninsula limited, hoping to get specific advice for 1:60 battalion composition. French Ligne French Legere Polish Nassau Hesse-Darmstadt Holland Frankfurt Basically units from French VI Corps at Talavera Feel free to PM me. |

1:60 means 10-12 figures per battalion I presume? Honestly, build units however you want. Officers, grenadiers, voltiguers it's not going to match, so just have fun with figure selection For the French – "1806-1812" uniform. Referred to as 1809 uniform in some sources Either shako or bearskin for grenadiers, shako or colpack for voltiguers (light infantry) – shako more likely. Depended on the regiment I don't know how many French regiments would have had white uniforms at talevera. I make them all blue so usable in other places and because I don't like the white uniform The polish I'm not sure how different vistula and AB polish uniforms are. I have some fantassin vistula Nassau can use the AB waterloo Nassau figures Hesse darmstadt and Frankfurt confederation of the rhine. There are two different uniforms in the AB range. They are quite distinct and you would have to look at an illustration Holland I believe is a confederation uniform – either that or very French. One regiment had bearskjns, I don't remember which John |

The French will be easy. Six, two figure company stands per battalion. Two grenadier models, two voltigeur models, and eight line models, three of whom would be a drummer, one flag bearer and one officer. |

I painted 1809 Hesse-Darmstadt units last year. The unit sent to Spain was given French uniforms to wear. |

The kingdom of holland had 2 battalions in spain. En route to Spain both battalions changed to the french battalion structure so 1 comp grenadiers, 1 voltigeur and 4 fusiliers. AB has specific dutch figures. |

I find myself pondering what figures to order from AB for the peninsular as well… I didn't even think there were any in the range suitable to represent the Frankfurt battalion. I know there are French-style and German-style Fusiliers for Confederacy of the Rhine, but neither looked the same as the pictures I could easily find. Stonewall specify that they have them, but unhelpfully there are no pictures on their site. For Hesse-Darmstadt, I was assuming the AB Confederacy French-style Fusiliers were the right ones to acquire. It's the Spanish that are giving me the biggest headache though. What figures would I use for the Irlanda regiment, for instance? Can I use the Catalonian Light Infantry for ~1809-1812? Which figures am I meant to use for officers with the later line and light infantry wearing Shakos? Finally, are the figures supplied by AB on a given product code completely random? If I order 2 gun crews of 4 miniatures apiece for instance, could I end up being sent 8 copies of the same miniature? |
