Hi,

Following on from years of procrastination and indecision (mainly because I could not find the images on then Essex site!) it has come to the time where I make my dream to put together a *Late* Timurid/Post Timurid army actionable (I hope!). They're mainly Medieval, Renaissance I think!?

Having emailed Essex miniatures asking for the codes for the following 28mm horses and cavalrymen and received lots of codes for the Thirty Years War/ECW in 15mm. Then to be told "We're working on it" (Ok, that means they're very busy right?) I have decided to open the subject up to the group.

If anyone can let me know what the codes are for both the barded and caparisoned horses plus the cavalryman from the various images below I would be eternally grateful.

Incidentally, all the amazing brushwork below is by Jock Ramage- a precision painter with a very individual style- what it's all about really.

Cheers

i would look at Essex codes for:

28mm Medieval – Islamic Persian
28mm Crusades – CR20 is in photo 1 and 2. Some of the Mongols may pass, also the CUman or Georgians.
28mm renaissance – Persians and Ottoman Turks. 5WO has the correct horse and may match, 1WO also.

cheers
Jon

Irregular 28mm Timurid and/or Renaissance Islamic Persians might also help…..

The problem is; Essex in the UK don't have images of a heck of a lot of stuff on their website which makes it complete guesswork in many cases.

True. I recognize many of the figures, but only a few of the horses. Lack of images on the website is a problem.

Not sure if it is an Essex tradition, but their horses always seem to favour that head down position. The riders might be a mix, some of the poses are definitely Essex. There is a website 'Caliban' where he had photos of this army. Unfortunately their website doesn't show any of the horses for this army!

Do you have a link to the picies of the cavalrymen on the website 'Caliban' please?

Try this

caliban-somewhen.blogspot.com/search/label/25mm%20Sassanian%20Persians

The date of the post is June 2009. The first several photo's are all Essex. I Think I may have played against these figures back in WAB, but they were under Sassanian colours.
