I was wondering if anyone had experience playing the older brigade-level Fire and Fury using 6mm figs? What sort of basing/fig ratio or scheme did you use or find worked best with 6mm? Thanks in advance!

Stick with the same base sizes, but cram more figures on each base!

Since the bases are typically 1" wide and 3/4" deep, I was wondering if one line or two lines looked best or if someone had some pics. My google foo shows a lot of larger sized bases for other rule sets that look like nice ACW vignettes with skirmishers, etc, but may not work for F&F…

I use the same base size; I initially used two ranks but now I use three ranks of 3 figs per rank to give the "mass of bayonets" look

Depends ont he manufacturer and how much room you have. Baccus 6mm are 2cm front so you could go with 2cm square with little change to the rules. You could also go half size if you don't have the room. FnF boards are typically large for scenarios.

We went with 20mm bases. That is 4/5ths of the F and F scale. The conversion is easy. Just read all measurements in inches as centimetres x 2.

The reason we did this was to give us more space on the table (eg we need only a 4' wide table to do a scenario requiring a 5' wide table). I don't think that there is any real loss in terms of the spectacle.

We use Baccus figures, with 2 strips to an infantry base. You need to clip a bit off each end of the strip to make it fit comfortably on the base, but that is easy enough.

We used the standard marching strips, but you could use the skirmish figures if you want more ragged lines.

My friend has a blog (google "Melbourne ACW Fire and Fury" with pictures of some of our games.

Good luck

I use Adlers and put four on a 25mm frontage. They may be considered too open by some, but I like how they look

I went with 20mm x 20mm bases too, with 2 blocks of 4 figures on each base which nicely simulates a two ranked line of battle.

I think table space is a consideration here but for me it was more about making the Baccus figures work with the basing. I've seen people putting 5 figures in two rows which involves a bit of clipping and seems like a lot of work but if you go that route I think it makes the battle line look better (no gaps). Easier to do the smaller base size IMHO.

I never actually PLAYED [story of my life] but I did assemble two ACW armies for Fire and Fury in this scale. I think I just substituted centimetres for inches for most purposes, and therefore had brigades with 2cm wide elements with 3 or 4 Heroics/Ros figures [to give a slightly ragged firing line look].

I had a lot of 6mm ACW based for Polemos on 60 mm x 30 mm bases, so when I started playing F+ F, I made some 20 mm x 30 mm bases and 40 mm x 30 bases to add to units. The smaller bases can be removed as attrition wears the brigades down. It works fine, also means fewer fiddly bases to shift. I have Adler, H+R and Baccus figures ( not in same units) and find I can fit 5 or 6 infantry and 3 cavalry on the 20mm x 30 mm bases.

A good friend of mine has a huge ACW collection in 6mm (essentially both complete armies that fought at Gettysburg + accessories). All his infantry is mounted 10 figures per stand in two ranks of five figures each – maybe 25mm wide x 10mm deep. The visual effect of a deployed brigade of such stands is IMO much preferable to one of square stands.

We have played numerous games of FF/B using these stands without a hitch of any kind.

I played F&F in 6mm at a friend's house many years ago & they were 1/2 sized bases with the standard number of figs on. It meant we could play a large scenario on his kitchen table.

I have a large force of ACW based similar to polemos (2" bases 6mm troops) What I did was created a number of half sized bases(1") to use as Change. since every brigade will either have an even or odd number of bases in it at every given time.
