The Shock Army of the Hobgoblin king is a brutally disciplined and merciless army that revels in destruction on a massive scale. Unlike other savage and indisciplined goblinoids these warriors keep ranks and fight with mechanical precision, because they know that is the way to shed the most blood. These are 15mm models but Hobgoblins are massive creatures, a full two meters tall, and can easily be used as man-sized goblinoids in 18mm scale. The center of the army is made up of rectangles of soldiers with swords and large shields, the attack cohorts.
On the wings are archers with self-bows who shoot a huge volume of arrows into the enemy ranks, especially their more fragile mounted forces.
Behind these are the soldiers with polearms to defend the archers in case the enemy survives the arrow storm. Although these usually fight in mixed units with the archers, at times they are massed into a mighty phalanx that serves as a battering ram, on which occasions the front ranks are provided with shields.
At the head of each infantry unit is a centurion, standard bearer, and drummer to keep the soldiers marching in step.
There are other elements to the Hobgoblin Shock Army as well, but the core is the infantry and these will be released as soon as the mouldmaker makes the moulds. Duff has done a great job painting these -- Mike Broadbent sculpted them. Updates as I get them! |

Looks great! May pick up some for a HoTT army, especially if and when my group returns to D&D as our go-to RPG. Damon. |

Amazing! Absolutely perfect hobgoblins. They would work perfect on their own but could easily be blended in with your orcs as a better equipped elite. -Eli |

Well, now I have found the enemy for the lizard men. Hope both the ranges will be on sale soon. |

NICE! The original Uruk Hai, before Middle Earth was even thought of. Now, just do a little research on those nasty, nasty redcaps! *chortle* |

Nice looking figures and brushwork. These have the same feel as the Hobgoblins from the old Battle System line by Ral Partha. I have a few of those and did not know what to do with them. Now i do. |

That is a superb paint job – the helmets and swords actually 'shine'! And the lamellar armor – perfect and reminds me of old 1e illustrations. |

Very nice I can feel a few units of these being recruited to join my horde! |

Yep that is how I have always picture Hobgoblins, kind of Asian in design, disciplined and tough. |

shields to be guled on or they are casted as one piece |
khurasanminiatures | 17 May 2014 9:18 a.m. PST |
Separate. If you look at the first picture in particular it would be physically impossible to cast a model like that with the shield as part of the sculpt. Heard from the caster so I'm hoping this will be moving along soon. |

When will these be on the market for sale? |
khurasanminiatures | 10 Feb 2015 8:01 a.m. PST |
A bit torn as to whether to release them now or wait for their mounted and high command. |
Jimboba | 11 Feb 2015 3:53 a.m. PST |
They are fine indeed. Go ahead and release them. Allow the baying horde a chance to start on painting them up. (Biz head – also means a repeat visit to complete the horde later which means the "oh, I'll just add a pack or two of these now that I'm placing an order" syndrome that plagues gamers will kick in.) |
khurasanminiatures | 12 Feb 2015 5:36 a.m. PST |
Actually, people are much more likely to buy a lot of something if it is released as a complete line. Releasing things in dribs and drabs often results in not selling much at all. |
Das Sheep | 09 Jun 2015 4:40 a.m. PST |
Are the shields separate? |
