with Agent Carter. "Despite falling ratings and critical ambivalence towards Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC is doubling down on Marvel properties for fall 2014. Not only is the network giving S.H.I.E.L.D. get a second season, but it's also adding a second Marvel series, the much-anticipated Agent Carter, to its slate. What the second season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., announced yesterday along with the Carter series, will look like remains unclear. Last month's Captain America: The Winter Soldier ended with the dissolution of the titular spy organization, with subsequent episodes of the television series dealing with the fallout of that development with varying degrees of success. (Anyone attempting to make the timeline of the show jibe with the timeline of the movie is guaranteed a headache, let's just leave it at that.) The events in Winter Soldier and the first season have even left the show's title a bit unsettled, with executive producer Jeph Loeb joking in interviews that "we don't want to start calling the show Agents of Nothing." While S.H.I.E.L.D. will deal with a post-S.H.I.E.L.D. world (and, presumably, build to next May's Avengers: Age of Ultron release), Agent Carter will focus on the origins of the intelligence organization. Co-created by Winter Soldier screenwriters Steve McFeely and Christopher Marcus, who will act as executive producers on the series with Marvel TV head Loeb, the series has been described as a take on ABC's Alias set in the post-World War II era, with Hayley Atwell reprising her role as Sharon Carter in the Captain America films as she helps in the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D. from the ground up

Funny, the LAST Times' reviewer thought that Agents of SHIELD really found it's stride in the second half of the season. |

I like the series, but it must be a difficult one to script. Is it basically designed as a series in it's own right, or is it now just backround to the Avengers? I think it needs to delink itself. |

The Times' reviews became ambivalent when the show started to absorb the movie plotlines effects – a rebellion against an authority, even one that has been corrupted, don't sit well with the editors :) Without getting too spoiler-y, second season looks like it will deal with the day-to-day rebuilding of SHIELD after the chaos caused by HYDRA and root out the last influences of that tumor that grew inside it. The movies will of course have the Avengers dealing with the alrger threats, while occasionally using SHIELD assets and assisting in the defense of the world against HYDRA's more grandiose and unusual projects. Agent Carter will be a bit of an oddity – the building of SHIELD will take place during the time of the show, and finding out how HYDRA managed to plant itself in SHIELD will be a major arc. |

I watched season ender last night wow. Just wow series has gotten tons better. The last 10 minutes with Fury are alone worth the watch. I am jacked up for next season, some of the things they left loose for next season should be interesting. I loved the big fight ,it rocked. I will watch Agent Carter just for Atwell, one of the prettiest faces I have seen in a long time. The time line of Agent and the movies is easy to follow if you know what to look for |
