I go to my local swap meet every weekend looking for rare items, which is to say other people's junk, that I can use with my miniatures collections. Every once in awhile I find a toy that has no practical purpose for any of my hobby projects, but the toy is perfect scale for 28mm or 15mm figures and so nicely crafted that I can't resist buying it just for the joy of repairing it and painting it. That is the case with the "shoe." It probably was originally sold as something having to do with the Old Lady who lived in the shoe… but beyond that I know nothing other than it is plastic and was manufactured in China. It cost me $2 USD, and I got more than my money's worth in pleasure working on it. I did some small modifications using Milliput to create climbing shrubs in order to hide a missing window, seams and hinges , and then I painted it. The figures are by Wyrd and are part of my 28mm Victorian collection. Just a fun project that I thought I would share. Hope some of you enjoy it. What RPG is there that DOESN'T need an eccentric baba-yaga type NPC in a giant shoe?

That works

Great work there – a certain whimsy :)

And here is a real one from my local town – Wanganui, NZ.

The figures that go with it are certainly appropriate.

And it certainly begs for a scenario.

I wouldn't want to have to paint all of her children.

:(

Don't shoes come in pairs? I think you should get another one and do it up at least as nice as this one. From the looks of the women he may have a scenario in mind already…

Great job as always.

Thanks to all for writing. Mike, my experience with shoes matches yours, but this is my first experience with shoe housing and there are indications that the construction company focused on the right shoe only. I'll leave all thought of the women and the shoe and the world they inhabit to the creative minds that see them. In my crazy mind that toy shoe, the nursery rhyme/fable (whatever), and the Wyrd ladies simple belonged together. Really happy you enjoyed them. Thanks again for taking the time to write. Richard
