Hi all,

I'm a Citadel Miniatures collector and in recent years I have been very fortunate to have access to Bryan Ansell's collection of Citadel Miniatures to photograph. I have been documenting this on my blog:

eldritchepistles.blogspot.co.uk

Some of the most recent posts relate to Foundry's latest release of ex-Citadel figures (which is mentioned in other threads on this group) and to a recent "Oldhammer" event. But if you look in the blog archive on the right hand side you will see links to many of my previous posts displaying Bryan's figures. There is LOTS more to come!

I'm also a big fan of John Blanche and have many of his figures – again you will find posts relating to his figures on my blog.

Also, on the top right you will find links to galleries of Bryan's and John's figures on my other website (http://thecitadelcollector.co.uk/zen/).

If you are as much of a fan as I am of vintage Citadel and of John Blanche then I hope you enjoy browsing these images.

Given that there are a significant number of Rogue Trader and historical figures in Bryan's collection I was wondering if I should also post this message on other boards on this site, but I didn't know what the protocol was in this regard. Could someone clarify that for me?

thanks
Steve

I wonder if Foundry would be allowed to release some OOP Citadel Fantasy, maybe as a collector's series.

Liked the oldhammer post. The Tzeentch stuff is my favourite; it was still around when I started way back when, and would have been nice to collect then.

Do you ust have John's Citadel figures or do you have Historicals as well? I believe that, in times past, he used to field Assyrians.

Excellent blog!

When I did RPGs, Citadel were the first fantaqsy figures I bought way back in the day before they even had a US distribution and slotta bases. I used to order direct from the UK by mail and wait weeks for them to arrive. Sadly, I no longer have them and miss them.

I guess Foundry can't re-release the fantasy and sci-fi ranges.

I wanna see the Historicals too. I to this day wish I had gotten the Carolingians.

I love the standard bearer giving "the finger", second photo,
Nico's Oldhammer Realm of Chaos army section, Ha!

GW have forgotten this humour.

A long time ago, when I did play WarHammer,I always sought out the oldest figures that I could afford. This is why.

Thanks all for your kind words. In answer to a couple of queries:

- Most of the stuff I have of John's is fantasy/scifi. I may well have some historical stuff of his but it would be small in number. Also, I'm afraid to see my knowledge of most historical ranges is pretty poor. I wouldn't know an Assyrian if it (*fill in the blanks*).

- Foundry release of old Citadel ranges: It may well be that Foundry still have ex-Citadel moulds to find and release, but most if not all of these will have a historical connection (e.g. Dogs of War types). It is unlikely for example that Foundry will be releasing old Citadel Chaos Warriors! This is indeed due to the fact that Foundry as originally setup cast historical figures rather than fantasy and scifi.

Coolness!

If you want to have a look at the old (old!) Citadel ranges (as opposed to the later Foundry / GW ones) then go to the Lost Minis WIKI and look for the 'Historical' ones.

There is an incredible collection shown there. Most variants as well as the codes were 'individualised'. Bear in mind that many of these were released in 1979….. You may also be tempted to look at the rest of the site….. a labor of love for many of us.
