I recently took delivery of three 1/144th Brisfits from Shapeways, my first 3D printed aeroplanes. Here's how they turned out on my blog:

Thanks for looking!

I wanted to cross post this on the Biplanes board, but an internal server error was stopping me, so it's only on this board. Apologies.

I have the Airfix model of this plane. As usual, yours came out fantastic.

Thanks Robby! It was nothing really, just a dash of paint, no real technique here! I used to have the Airfix version of the Brisfit, but I have no idea what has happened to it…

What kind of stuff would you recommend for 3D-printing one's models with?

Abwehrschlacht13 Jul 2013 3:38 a.m. PST

Lluis, I have no idea, Shapeways are a company that print to order, I believe. I think the equipment is incredibly expensive (which is translated into the price of the prints). TBH, it's not something I know a lot about.

I looked at the Shapeways link and found a couple planes I'd like. Is it difficult to develop the Wings of War cards to go with the planes? This is one of those games where several others in our group bring in all the toys and I just play, so I'm not knowledgeable. I'd decided a couple years ago, that I'd buy a Sopwith Dolphin, if they ever produced one, and here it is.

I have a Handley Page from Shapeways that is fantastic as well as some Eindeckers and Moraine Saulnier Taubs from them. Very nice models, better than the WOG models, though no cards

Abwehrschlacht13 Jul 2013 7:04 a.m. PST

Grelber, I have all the original card decks for WoW, which have yet to be released for WoG, unfortunately. I don't remember if there is a Dolphin in there, but there may be. Other than that, there is a forum site dedicated to WoW/G that has files for movement cards and the like on it, try there.

Yes, Jlundberg, I'm really happy with the quality of this one so I'll most like be buying more in the future. I guess the price of 3D printing will fall soon as well!

Grelber, go to this site. It is dedicated to WoG and at least a couple of the memberss have created cards for many of the Shapeways a/c.

There's never been an official card for the Dolphin, but if you're feeling harsh give it the SPAD XIII's maneuver deck, or the SE5a one if you're feeling generous.

Wow! Thanks very much, all.
