Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

Yep, if you had any doubt, the Cold War is officially over.

There are now no American tanks in Germany:

Now, if someone would just let the Russians know that the Cold War is over….

darthfozzywig22 Apr 2013 6:04 p.m. PST

They're too busy driving for the Fulda Gap to read the news, comrade!

For those of us who grew up, and then served in the Army, during the Cold War, it truely is a significant moment.

Sparker22 Apr 2013 7:34 p.m. PST

Indeed. How do they Germans feel about this? The non Russian speaking ones, anyway…

Wow.

Hopefully history does not repeat itself in our lifetime let alone that of our children's children.

Mako1122 Apr 2013 8:15 p.m. PST

That is good news.

Though lately, I've been beginning to think Kruschev was right…….

James Wright22 Apr 2013 10:26 p.m. PST

Wow…makes me kind of emotional, actually.

I used to chuckle when thinking of the poor Germans in places like Soest, they put up with the British Soldiers for years, tanks driving around, drunk squaddies at the weekend etc. Then after options for change most of the soldiers and their families left with their money to be replaced with asylum seekers with no money and crime rates went up!

Tally Ho!

Fanch du Leon23 Apr 2013 1:57 a.m. PST

Wow! I'm not dead, and i'm not red. Does this mean we've won?

vojvoda23 Apr 2013 5:36 a.m. PST

Old news but there are still at least one Sherman left at Kelly Barracks Stuttgart at the flag pole near the new African Command.

Yep, but there still are in Italy ;)

CPBelt23 Apr 2013 7:46 a.m. PST

Yep, but there still are in Italy ;)

That's because the food is good and the women are beautiful. :-)

I somehow think that there are still tanks at the CEGE sites in Germany and Belgium. The battalions are gone, but prepositioned equipment I expect remains.

Generalstoner4923 Apr 2013 2:50 p.m. PST

Major mike I remember reading something about it. There are still stocks but I think the number of propositioned depots was reduced as well and if my guess is right they will get redeployed to the Asia/pacific theater since it seems the entire defense policy is making that shift.

The COLD WAR is over if this topic is fixed… And not one moment earlier.
