Preferably in plastic, but metal is OK as long as it is cheap!

Thanks in advance to anyone who has info.

What scale?

Try the Ghost Range from Old Glory; that is if, as I assume, your substituting for GW High Elves. Figs are about $1ea and the style is similar to the GW as regards clothing etc.

I know that this might be heresy, but if you can find a decent enough discount on the GW regiment boxes (I've successfully bought them for ~$15 shipped on ebay), you can't do much better for foot soldiers.

That said, you can look into Ghost (which I think are kind of dated and clunky) or some of the stuff Partha put out near their end. I'm particularly fond of thier Irregular Pole Arms and Archers (which fit in nicely scale/design-wise with GW)

May I suggest Alternative Armies?

They are cheep and very much in the same vein that GW's pointy ears.

28mm, by the way. (thanks to anyone who has replied so far)

Well, there's a certain reason why they are called "Alternative" Armies... (wink, wink).

Grenadier did some very nice High Elves back in the day, but getting them from Stratalibri over in Itally might not be so cheap. RAFM used to have Elves of the Isles that were okay, but not really GW like. I have an army of the RP high elves, but they aren't for sale! Beautiful figures by the same fellow who did GW's Dark Eldar and Dark Elves.

The plastic elves from the GW Fellowship of the Ring game come with Gondor Swordsmen. 8 plastic elves and 4 Gondor for $15. These are High Elves.

Depending on your interest in saving money, and quantity desired, check out Prince August's fantasy molds. The more you cast, the less expensive they are. Molds, by the way, are good for approximately 500 castings. Check the Manufacturer's web listing on this page. You can see photo's of their elf castings, painted, on their site. Cheers!

Try Kallistra Ltd, their website is on the Manufacturers directory. Reasonable 28mm figures, compatable in size with GW, but a lot cheaper.
