Hi,

I've seen some of the "Heroclix" collectible figures on the web, but I have no idea what scale/size they are. I don't suppose they are 25mm?

Cheers,

Christopher

They are a bit larger than the Games Workshop plastic figures, so I guess about 28mm.

Thanks for the info! Hmm … so I suppose they might be useful in some circumstances.

28 – 30mm based on the ones I have.

They vary somewhat, but 28-30mm seems about right. The cheap ones take paint nicely and they can be used for a variety of genres.

Christopher,

I would not recommend them to go with the GW minis, but the trolls are suitable substitutes for the GW trolls. The others are markedly larger, especially compared to the early 25mm plastic GW rohan/gondor/goblins.

Just for info, when LOTR first came out some marked scale disparities existed between the metal and plastic minis. However, they have lately seemed to settle on something that is not quite 28mm, but larger than 25mm.

I would think that the orcs and goblins are fine as they weren't a regimental height, some are going to be bigger than others.

They are about 32-35mm. As someone stated above you could use the trolls or maybe treebeard but everything else will be far too large for the GW LOTR stuff. The goblins will tower over Aragorn. They scale well with the Reaper Warlord figures.

Thanks for the more detailed advice! I was actually looking for a substitute for trolls, so that's good news. I'm also going to field various different units orcs (at least one unit each of Warlord and Mantic to experiment) so perhaps the larger figures could be used as leaders etc.

Cheers,

Christopher

This is how I would describe them.
You might get away with using Uruk-hai if you don't mix them with GW figures. They are BIG orcs.

Here's a picture of two Rohirrim.

But as leidung said you'd probably fine that the trolls or Treebeard fitted fine, the GW ones are undersized compared to ordinary infantry.

I wouldn't try and mix the Uruks either.

Wow – thanks for the pic!
