can anyone recomend a generic set of fantasy rules that would suit a mix of Celtos & Wargods miniatures |

The Celtos rules themselves are excellent semi skirmish (individual based figures in loose units). The much derided v4 Confrontation from the PPP era is also a really good set of rules (semi skirmish again). On a single figure skirmish basis you could take a look at Songs of Blades & heroes and its multitude of expansions, or the GW Lord of the Rings strategy battle game. |

Warrior Heroes Armies and Adventurers from Two Hour Games is completely generic and specially suited for solo play: Scroll down and read up: link |

Song of Blades & Heroes or AD&D Battlesystem Skirmishes, or conversion of Reaper WARLORD. |

Song of Blades here, too! Something like a $4 for the basic rules. |

Try the free supplement Swordplay first to see if you like the Reaction System. Not exactly like WHAA but gives you a feel for it. link |

Warlord by Reaper is a good system, but you'll have to stat up your own guys. It shouldn't be too hard. |

What are you looking for? I like realy small numbers of figures per side so I just bought Song of Blades and Heroes and hope to try that out soon. If you like small warbands then you should also check Mordheim as its free. Both of these depend on small numbers of troops – how many do you want and how long do you want the game to last. |

Song of Blades & Heroes is the quick fix. If you spend some time and proxy the figures to Reaper's Warlord it will be worth it too. |

Second for WHAA. I have also tried Song of Blades & Heroes, but liked WHAA a little better. |

Check out ARES, by MJ12 games I believe? Uses poly-dice
stat out any figure, individual combatants (4-12 per side, IMHO)

I hear good things about Skulldred. |

I've heard good rumbles about Skulldred as well. At the moment I'd probably go with SoBH. I've been wondering about Celtos for larger games
I like the idea of loose unit cohesion, rather than rank & file formations
which closer fits my idea of what fantasy combats ought to be like. There's also Goalsystem Fantasy, which is a cheap PDF on RPGNow. |

Bladestorm by I.C.E if you can find a copy. :) |

Lord of the Rings battle game. Simple and fun for 50+ figs a side plus characters. |

Song of Blades and Heroes |

I wouldn't push the LotR SBG to 50 models a side, but yes, it works pretty well, even with 5 monsters (excuse me, major heroes) and 4 henchmen [evil grin] versus a bunch of better-than-mooks. |

My Brink of Battle rules will release in Feb. You can play with those and then participate in the playtesting for the fantasy supplement, Epic Heroes, to follow. We've been using proxy fantasy minis for the Ancient/Medieval era and have had a blast. Working on the magic system currently, and getting the final artwork seated in the rules for print. Stay tuned! |
