Most everything is accounted for except lightsabers and Stormtroopers… and given that I like the feel of New Hope the best, I care more about the latter.

So, any ideas on where to get stormtroopers in 15mm?

The old Micro Machine Star Wars figures are close to 15mm. I think they measure around 18mm

And here are the main charatcers. Vader and Luke, with lightsabers.

The Micro Machine figures are really quite large, around 20mm. They are noticeably different to 15-18mm miniatures.

Psyckosama16 Nov 2011 3:49 p.m. PST

Yeah. Those figures are closer to 1/72 scale. They're 1/100 scale.

I have those, they're far too big for 15mm.

I just want to standardize some so that they can more easily be mixed with my various other types of miniatures…

I've seen someone take their heads and put them on New Israelis from GZG, and though it ends up looking fine, I think I'd prefer a slightly different solution (Just not enough heads!).

RTJEBADIA16 Nov 2011 4:29 p.m. PST

Wait, how about these?

I've heard they're about 18mm… and it looks like you could file down that base a bit, too.
Get the whole game and you get rebels and some space ships too. Looks like this is what i'm going to do…

Any body have this (or the clone wars one) and can confirm that they'll look okay (if skinny) next to 15mm models?

I guess Titan Marines aren't close enough?

The Risk pieces are a great fit with Micro Machines. I own the Clone Wars version. The Rebellion set sells for a pretty penny compared to the Clone Wars set. Plus they won't fit with 15mm.

Thanks,

John

Why go 15mm when the figures that are 25mm painted are around 50 cents?

Well, I sorta did both. I have bought hundreds and hundreds of the WOTC figs. However, I have also recently been picking up Micro Machine stuff for the Clone Wars. I can use an 8 foot table to fight a very large battle with them. couldn't do that with my 28mm stuff.

Thanks,

John

I just want to standardize to 15mm (as I've been doing for awhile). I've actually got some of the 28mm star wars (not many)… I guess if I ever get really into Star Wars gaming I could go that route.

I'm surprised the risk figures won't fit… the LOTR Risk ones do, the 2210 AD Risk ones do (if you count the small robots as man sized), and I'm surprised that they did a big size shift… also, both of the above risk sets have rather thick bases that you could file down… is none of that true of the SW ones?

Check this, I'm going to rework the helmet just a tad, add a cyliner to the small of the back and fill the grooves on the shoulder armor, they should look convincing.

Nice idea gunner, but for me the head does look too big and is noticeable :-(

billthecat17 Nov 2011 12:33 p.m. PST

aren't 15mm lightsabers a bit tricky?

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP17 Nov 2011 1:07 p.m. PST

Believe me. I would love the Risk Star Wars figs to work with all my 15mm scifi. But they are much taller. Plus the stands aren't that thick on them. They will not work together. Now some of the taller 15mm figs like Gzg Crusties will fit with the Star Wars Risk 20mm figs. You have some flexibility there since whose to say how tall an alien is. But you are wasting your time and money trying to make 15mm human figs fit with them. Plus all Risk figs are NOT the same size.

Thanks,

John

Honestly just a brightly colored sword would probably look fine… maybe with some of the light spattered on the model (if its a blue light saber give a bit of blue to the edges facing it).

15mm lightsabers are easily made by using plastic rod. I use them for my converted Obi-wan and General Grievous.

Thanks,

John

I have some Micro Machine Star Wars figures that I use for characters after all they are larger than life. For Stormtroopers I use REbel Titan Marines.

They seems to work together, even if the characters are larger than life, as thye should be.

ThorLongus17 Nov 2011 4:46 p.m. PST

I was just contemplating 15 mm lightsabres for some conversions….
I have decided on using needles( I use and have access to all gauge medical needles…a 25 or 26 gauge would work for 15mm…but one could also use sewing needles trimmed with metal snips)
I imagine them to be very slender in proposed reality….only looking thick due to cgi glow.
How to paint very thin needles and achieve the glow effect?… No idea
But paint it a ridiculously bright color, and maybe a few coats of glow in the dark paint?
Great idea jtbeida…..osl lighting
