Earlier this year Ive painted my first DBA army Later Carthaginians. Here are photos of the Army on my blog (this was first 15 mm historical Ive painted and second 15 mm project)
Models are Corvus Belli. I like them very much but ive encountered problem with Roman enemies (and its not only because Romans are like pests !!!). Best Romans from Polybian period i saw locally were Xyston, but they are giants, and dwarf my puny unfed Carthaginians.. Anyone could help with solid Polybian romans in 15 mm with similar size to Corvus Belli stuff ?? (preferably with spears included in the set (i hate lack of Spears in Xyston models ;( Are Xyston really best on the market and i should grind my teeth about size difference, and take pride that my Carthaginians beat giants ? Help o mighty TMP! link |

You should find an answer or two in the "who makes the best polybian Romans" thread just down the page from here ( sorry can't link it as I'm using my iPod & don't know how to copy/paste links from it yet!) |

Nicely done
I started a thread with the same question. I had already been warned off of Xyston. My Numidians are done, and I have started the Carthaginians. Thinking ahead to the Roman enemies

I know some will complain about Essex Miniatures having short legs; but given your location, Essex Miniatures in UK would go nicely w/ you Corvus figures. I have both Corvus Carthos and Essex Romans and they are the same size to my eyes. |

I've mixed Essex Spanish with Corvus Spanish and people have trouble picking out which are which in my army. I quite like Essex and they mix very well with Corvus. |

Essex is size wise a good match, but if like me you're not a big fan of Essex sculpts then keep searching. |

I like the old glory 15mm stuff, and find it matches well enough to CB. Phil |

I have both the CB Carthaginians and the Essex Polly Romans, and I'm not entirely happy with how stubby and static the later look next to the former. Maybe I'm just overly pickty though. |

The OG 15mm Polybians would be a good match. |

The Roomie has an Army of both of these (Corvus Belli Carthaginians, Gauls, and Iberians; and Essex & Xyston Polybian Romans). I love the look of the Polybian Romans (even though this isn't a preferred period), but they are Ginormous! The Roommate does have some of the smaller Xyston Greeks that are the perfect size match for the Corvus Belli Carthaginians, and he even has taken some of the Greeks and begun converting them to Polybian Romans (filed down the helmets, and armor to leave just arms and legs, then added back a Lorica Hamata, and the Monteforino Helmet – and that one greave on the left leg. Erm
or is it right leg??? I can't go check right now). Some of them he didn't even have to cut anything off of (he used some of the Naked Psiloi for Hastati and Princeps throwing Pilum). But, like many of his projects, he doesn't seem to have time to do much work on them or even finish them. Pity, cause he could probably sell those Polybian Romans to Xyston to replace their Roman Giants. If he'd finish them that is. |
