Does anyone have any information on the Uniforms worn by the Yugoslav army during the invasion of 1941, I have found lots of photos of equipment tanks, artillery ,small arms etc, but no photos of the uniforms they wore. I think they had the French style helmet but I don't have any details on the colouring of the uniforms or webbing. Can anyone help with good websites?

I have Andrew Mollo's books.
He shows the Yugoslavian army in 1941 with grey WW1 style uniforms. They have French Adrian helmets, grey tunics with red collar flashes, jodphur style trousers and puttees. Ammo pouches, boots and belts are brown leather.
Early war jackets are WW1 issue and button up the right hand side. Later jackets are similar to German WW2 tunics.

Thanks for the information Mick, It would be nice to have some pictures but if I extend my searches to WW1 clothing I will probably come up with something useful. Were the ammo pouches the same pattern as worn in WW1 as well?

Dear Wargamer6
They do look like very old WW1 items.

I have just been looking at some Serbian army film footage of WW1 and the uniforms they wore look very similar to the uniforms in a picture I have of Yugoslavian soldiers surrendering in 1941 . Thanks again Mick this information, it has been very useful.

It seems that a hat ,"shajkacha" was more common than a helmet. This is the sane hat that the Serbian infantry wore in WW1.

Here are some Yugoslavian POWs in 1941. And the Yugoslav Partisans seemed to wear quite a bit of 1941 kit. Robert

the uniforms were 'grey-green' but greyer than German field grey. The same hat from WW1 reappeared in 1991 worn by Serb militia in Croatia and Bosnia.

The modern film clips of Serbian WW1 battles show the uniform was mid grey if these films accurately represent the period. Grey green as you say is more akin to the German uniform colour. Perhaps the colour of the uniform was changed and they kept the same patterns. I agree that there are more pictures of caps than Helmets and one source says there weren't enough helmets available for the reserve units.
