Armaments in Miniature is coming out with a new line of 1/200 scale resin jets. Dave was kind enough to let me paint several. The decals, except for the yellow stripes, on the minis are also available from AIM.

AIM is at link

If everything goes well there should be a F-86 vs Mig-15 Check Your 6! game at Fall In.

It's a shame that I will not make it Fall In! to see the game.

I have some of these in the post to me now. I hope mine paint up half as good. Any hints on painting them?

Regards Alan

Hi Alan, my hint is to use decals instead of paint where possible.

Here's what I did:
Sanded smooth the tiny seam line and vent points.
Washed the minis in warm soapy water.
Applied black primer (aerosol).
Applied two coats of chrome silver paint (aerosol).
Brush painted the canopies (blue with a dark blue ink wash around the edges).
Applied a clear gloss finish.
Applied decals and another coat of gloss finish.
Handed painted the intakes, exhausts, radar, and anti-glare panels.

I've attached a magnet to a section of wooden dowel. The planes come with a steel screw in the belly. I attach the mini to the dowel when I'm working to reduce finger prints.

Also available from Armaments In Miniature to go with the 1/200 scale jet models are 2-1/2 inch hex flight stands (see Air war games In Miniature/"Check Your 6" on the Armaments In Miniature web site) and SkyHex and Korean LandHex 2-1/2 inch hex game mats (see same site).

I want to thank Jim Longstreth of Swan Island Replications for preparing the "basic" jet models and Don Beseny of The Gobblin Works for producing the beautiful decal sets.

That's great news.
Please keep us posted on the day and time of a Korean War jet game of CY6 at Fall In.
Thanks;
Joe

Kev -

You models look great but why did they have to make them 1/200? Why not the standard 1/144?
