Hi there, I've had a bit of Egyptian stuff lying around for a while, miniatures, books, scenery etc. and have finally decided to do something with them. Always been interested in Egypt in a casual way, so 2009 is going to be my Egyptian year! I've spent the afternoon watching Raiders of the Lost Ark and painting my Egyptian Scenery (including a hirst Scenery set I got from e-bay, it's quite neat really). Not a bad way to spend the afternoon. So, can anyone point me towards good Egyptian miniatures? I'm looking for historical, fantasy, science fiction, twenties, horror, pulp, Indiana Jones style, anything really. I particularly want figures to represent the Egyptian Gods. I have ordered a nice Anubis (sold as Set) from West Wind. I'm also looking for a place to buy some Crocodile Games mini's quite cheaply. Just so as I'm bringing something to the table, anyone interested can get a good deal via the link below, the service was very good and free post on orders over £45.00 GBP I bagged quite a few, but still want the figure that comes with the Ark of the Covenant! link Feel free to share any thoughts on Egyptian gaming you might have, or scenarios and games you've played. All the Best Paul |

Castaway Arts make an Ark of the Covenant set, with both Ancient Hebrew and with Indiana Jones pulp German crews. As for "normal" wargaming New Kingdom figures, I think that Foundry make the finest. IT looks like the Perrys REALLY liked the period. Oddly, I think Old Gloryt makes better chariots. Black Tree are also good, but not as nice as Foundry. BTW, I have a bunch (100+) of NKE Foundry and Black Tree figures I want to get rid of. Email me john_the_OFM AT msn DOT com Check out Pulp figures or Copplestone for 1920 stuff. |

This isn't related to minis, but it does fit in with your Egyptian theme: Valley of the Pharaohs by Palladium. link It's a free download of the OOP game. |

Jerzei, thanks for that link! I love finding free stuff like this! Funnily I also watched Raiders of the Lost Ark this afternoon. I'm going through an "ancient Egypt" phase right now too, though I'm mostly interested in it as a Swords & Sorcery setting. |

Oh, and don't forget to check Eureka's line of "Chaos Egyptians". Guess I should have opened with that :) |

Thtat's what I like about Egypt as a theme really, it can be pretty much any kind of setting. Some very good ideas so far. |

Ral Partha did nice minis of Horus, Set, and Bast in their Planescape boxed sets. Hard to find now, though, even on Ebay. Reaper does nice statues of Bast, Set, and Horus, as well as an Egyptian Cat and Jackal. And their Priestess is really nice: link Oh, and if I were you, I'd take John up on his offer. I agree with him, the Foundry Egyptians are beautiful minis. |

Foundry has great Egyptians as per John link Old Glory are not bad link These are a bit different but look very Egyptian link Mind you, they are all girls- but tough looking ones! |

Here is another direction for your Egyptian setting: link Yes, that is a puddlejumper in one of the photos, from Stargate. Then, just because I can, I have done a cross-over of Indian Jones and Stargate, here: link Also, a pulp era game of the Amelia Peabody Egyptian mysteries settings, by author Elizabeth Peters: link I am putting together a terrorist raid to seize tourists as hostages, and a daring rescue by special forces sort of game. I have all the figures collected and painted, and of course, the Egyptian scenery as backdrop. It just needs some rules. (The Assault group does hostages, as well as all the military and special agent types) |

Crocodile Games, as mentioned above. GW do an Egyptian-themed undead army, in their Tomb Kings. Their Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marines are sort of Egyptian-looking, too. There is a company doing official licenced Stargate minis, but I forget who. |

Griffon Publishing Studio has a couple of cool Egyptian pulp scenarios in their Free Stuff section, very inspirational stuff (IMHO): link If you're interested in a little bit of real-world inspiration, you can download a PDF version of Wallace Budge's "The Book of the Dead" here: PDF link Other scholarly works by Budge and others on the subject of Egyptology can be found here: link

Reaper do a nice Scorpion King link Also check out the Nefsokar in their Warlords range. Graven images do an interesting "Field of Reeds" range link RAFM have some Egyptian pieces link Artizan, Copplestone, Bob Murch, Ral Partha & West Wind do some lovely figures for the 1920/30s. Scotia-grendel have some nice resin pieces of scenery. link Ravensforge did a line of Egyptian gods, not sure if they're still available or not. Assassin Miniatures did/do a great Egyptian priestess (I got mine from ebay). DeeZee do some vultures & crocodiles link TMP has got quite a bit of information too TMP link |

Shieldwall Games has some neat Egyptian pieces if you take a look , they have been having some issues lately, so I'd place my order through email to confirm there is someone on the other end. Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures has a fair few Egyptian figures, such as the Rot Scarab Swarm, Mummy, Sphinx, Desert of Desolation is a good place to start. Black Tree Design does some Egyptians, Reaper has a few good figures as well. There are a lot of places to get em, and if you need a Stargate, I would suggest browsing the Hirst Arts forums as you should be able to get some good ideas. |

I wouldn't have looked otherwise, but after this I browsed the GW stuff and I really like the look of the Ushabti. And having been directed there I've just bougt some on the deaded e-bay! Anyone want to swap an Asp for a Crocodile Ushabti, I have two? :) I have been looking for the Ravensforge models but their website is down. Any UK sellers? I really want to see these gods. Have built a premade Hirst models set just to try their scenery (surprisingly easy to make) and I'm quite pleased with it. it's the Temple Entrance and was pretty reasonable on E-bay. I do have a Grendel piece of Egyptian scenery I've had for 15 years and just painted on Sunday, looks great! Anyone interested in a pulp Egyptian cast should really look at Blue Moon miniatures, their mummy set is really lovely. Some inspiring stuff there, thanks chaps! |

The Ravensforge figures are ugly and small, and often poorly-cast, too. I'm a big Wargods fan, and spent a bit of time tracking down some of the Ravensforge figures. I was disappointed. I'll also reccomend Crocodile Games Wargods of Aegyptus stuff – the forum is quite friendly and helpful, too. crocodilegames.com/newforum -Alex |

Ah well, thanks for the heads up on the Ravensforge stuff, better not to get my hopes up. Oh and thanks to John for the offer of the Egyptian figures, I'm pretty spent up and doubt I could afford them at the moment! Certainly got a fair bit to paint up
