Are the rules for the LotR SBG available as a pdf anywhere on the internet? Is there any way to try them out before buying the(expensive) rulebook? |

Expensive? You will find the rulebooks for anything from $3-$12 each on ebay. So cheap, in fact, that I have spares for when/if anyone comes over without their own copies. CC |

The books turn up for cheap at bring and buy stalls too. Get the Return of the King book if you can – it gives you stats for characters from all the films. These rules have pleased all kinds of gamers at our club, from the surly teenagers to the grumpy grognards. |

Translation SBG=Strategy Battle Game, but it's really just a fancy way of saying a tabletop miniatures game. |

The full compilation is in The Mines of Moria boxed set, and is also available as a separate book. Like the others said, check eBay. |

One minor thing – I thought the different rulebooks have stats for the different characters at varying times. So one will only have pre-fall Gandalf, another post-fall. Same for Aragorn too I think. It won't affect whether you like the game or not. Or am I imagining it all? |

Both Gandalfs are in the rulebook I think. Aragorns, Boromirs etc might be in more specific supplements, yes. |

Just to clarify a little bit -- each set of the rulebooks had minor tweaks and revisions from previous editions. The RotK version is like 97% right, compared to the Blue Book (which is available as a hardback, or smaller print softback in the Mines of Moria boxed set). |
