"Mecha kit proxies for Tau Crisis suits" Topic

Someone dropped some stuff at my gaming club, free, I took away some Tau which I'm slowly salvaging. Probably got enough infantry and drones for a small Grim Dark Future / Xenos Rampant force but its short on Battlesuits and what there is may not be recoverable. I've already got some 1:100 Macros mechs which would proxy in for the larger Tau suits quite nicely, but anyone have ideas about smaller scale mecha kits (roughly 6 to 10cm tall) that look like they'd reasonably hold a 28mm humanish pilot that might proxy for a run of the mill Crisis Suit? Preferably at least at a similar price point to an actual GW Crisis suite kit – some of the 'high grade' kits can be crazy expensive.

Walmart. Get some Transformers? Or dollar stores sometimes have decent mech stuff.

Red Ops miniatures does some. And the Ion Age minis have some. Oh, and the olde DUST models might work, too, especially the neo-Soviet ones.

1/60 scale AT VOTOMs mechs may work (if you can find them)…

Unfortunately UK discount stores tend not to be the trove of useful cheap toys that American ones seem to be.

Thanks, VOTOMs would hit the mark stylistically for me, though weaponry is bit off, I have a few 1:144 ones in my 15mm sci-fi collection. Don't recall seeing a lot of VOTOM kits of any scale around at the moment – seen the odd collectible action toy but they come in at prices that make GW look like a real bargain. Might see what HLJ has later – always a dangerous site to browse. Alternative Armies do some nice mechs and I hadn't thought to go down a scale! They would also go rather well with my existing Ion Age collection. Their Loud Ninja range also has some good mechs as well, I'm planning to pick one up as a Asterian Spectra proxy, but probably too spindly to look like there is pilot crammed inside.

Have a look at 30 Minute Missions. They are mecha that are smaller than the bigger Gundam Models. Still a bit bigger than the Crisis suits, but not a bad proxy.

Some Dollar Trees around here recently have had small Gundam kits that might work.

I have to say browsing HLJ the range of mecha kits seems to have shrunk quite alot over recent years. So many classic kits listed as discontinued.
