Hello everyone,
In 1870-71, on the German side, only the Bavarian infantry did not use Snare Drums?

I believe the Bavarians used Beer Barrels.

I think that's where the song "Roll out the Barrel 🎶 .." originated. 😉

My revisionist history.

@35thOVI
It's true that until now I think that among the Germans, only the Bavarians did not use Snare Drums, but now I wonder what types of drums the Saxons used…

@Frederick
And that doesn't solve my question!

@Old Contemptible
Thanks for the link but I dream or the Saxon drummers didn't use snare drums in 1870-71..?

Thank you but in the photo, they are Prussians not Saxons.

I have 25mm MiniFigs figures of the Saxon infantry from the "FRANCO PRUSSIAN WAR" range and the reference "PFP 18s Saxon Line Infantry Drummer" has an ordinary drum like the Bavarians and the French, but the Saxons in this range have that is to say the references "PFP3s Saxon Line Infantryman Advancing" -"PFP4s Saxon Line Infantry Officer as the reference "PFP 18s Saxon Line Infantry Drummer" are in flat caps as in 1866.

So the wearing of these flat caps by these figurines of the "FRANCO PRUSSIAN WAR" range is only artistic license to distinguish them from the Prussians, Bavarians and Württembergs of this range or a uniformological error, but I found this:

Now between 1867 and 1870 when the Saxons changed uniforms, would they have exchanged their drums for Snare Drums because I found this.

I linked the wrong one.

Try this one.

It shows a snare drum for the Saxons.
