Just an FYI: Dan Mersey has released his old Glutter of Ravens game on Wargames Vault. This appears to be an author's edition with some new stuff (in the resources section) and cleaned up text.

His game is a DBA style game with 15mm on DBA bases. So if you have a DBA based army then you're ready to plan.

Glutter of Ravens is a small tactical game that covers warfare in Dark Ages Britain. So you've got armies of Saxons, Britons, Picts, Welsh, and even Romans to play around with. It's great to see this game available again. You can get it as a PDF and there's a Print on Demand option too!

Great news. I really liked that rules set but somewhere along the line I lost my copy of the rules.

Mersey's Osprey game Dux Britainnorum is an updated version of Glutter of Ravens.

I have my original copy of Glutter of Ravens and collected and based 15mm armies for it. The rules were a bit fiddly.

Daniel then released Dux Bellorum, which was a polished up variant. I love DB and painted up 10mm armies for it (still need to paint up more).

As much as I love the original GoR for nostalgia sake, I think I will keep playing DB.

Glutter of Ravens is a resource book for dark ages Britain, worth having even if not interested in the rules contained. I got it when first came out and was well impressed.

cheers

From what I've seen, it has more stuff in the resource section.

I've never heard of Dux Britainnorum. Do you mean the tules by the Too Fat Lardies, Dux Britanniarum?

I think you mean that Daniel Mersey's Glutter of Ravens was updated as Dux Bellorum, not Dux Britainnorum?
